When the dark throws you down, and you learn to survive
You wake up and remember what it’s like to be alive.
When I’m the sun, I’ll count the worlds and make them mine.
I’m sick of making all the same mistakes over (and over) again
Will I ever be left alone to mend?
I’ll never make all the same mistakes over and over again
Now I’ve seen what I could become
And I don’t want to.
I carried these burdens for too long.
Went along with all the mess.
But it has made me who I am today,
Still standing after all these years.
We are the living dead
We are the living dead
We are the living dead
I know that this life is in our hands
And I know that we wont last forever
But let’s make this chance our last.
Don’t be scared of any new endeavors.
When I’m the sun,
I’ll count the worlds and make them mine.
Because when I’m the sun,
I’ll count the worlds and make them mine.
I’m sick of making all the same mistakes over (and over) again
Will I ever be left alone to mend?
I’ll never make all the same mistakes over and over again
Now I’ve seen what I could become,
I don’t want to become that no more.
I’m over it, and I’m over it all…
Stop pretending our world will keep turning.

Birds by Deas Vail is a beautiful song about being alone in this wanting nothing more than love from the one person you care about the most. This song I could be related to anyone in the world. This band is somehow able to hit the nail on the head of every single emotion there is to feel in this screwed up world. The line that states the true alarm is reality. The line actually states “this is our true alarm, this is reality.” I think it is saying that when you hit that real world of reality that it is a wakeup call stating that it is time to start growing up. In my opinion the beginning of the song is all about how we are sheltered as children and that when we grow up reality hits us like an alarm and when we are out there in that big huge terrible world all we want is love. “We are all birds stuck inside our cage” meaning were are just sheltered children not know what the world is actually like. “And behind our saints we hide face” meaning we hide behind our parents not wanting to be let go and out into the real world. “How much does it take for us to be loved.” How much does it take? I mean really. What do we all have to do be loved the amount we want or need. Why can’t people in this world just love each other and just put all differences aside and just live. This world is cruel enough without parents and help. Why can’t people just be supportive of one another and be positive on all out looks of life. “It’s not that there were bad intentions, its more that we forgot where to call home.” There is the answer to that question! Why can’t people just be positive and supportive? Because that is what secures us down. That is what makes us feel good and secure. Because we forgot what a home felt like. It’s not that we hate each other. It’s just because we are fighting one another for a home… love. Love is home. Love is the second cage that we go to. Love is the second saint we had our face behind.
